Sierra Madre Wistaria Festival 2022

The Magic of the Sierra Madre Wistaria Festival 2022

As spring approached, the anticipation of the Sierra Madre Wistaria Festival 2022 grew stronger. For over 100 years, this shrub has been a beloved and celebrated natural wonder. Every year, locals and visitors witness the stunning blooms of lavender-colored flowers. The Wistaria Vine, also known as the Chinese Wisteria Vine, was planted in the city in the late 1800s. It quickly became a local attraction due to its rapid growth, which covers over an acre and has 1.5 million blossoms that weigh over 250 tons. This made it a must-see destination for sightseers from all over the globe. People got the chance to view this majestic plant in all its glory which can only be viewed during the fair and requires a ticket. That included activities such as live music, arts and crafts, food vendors, etc. Guests had an up-close view of the magnificent florets hanging in long cascading clusters from its branches.

Sierra Madre Wistaria Festival 2022 After Lockdown

The wistaria vine is over 125 years old and has been a staple in Sierra Madre’s history and culture. After a year-long hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the festival is returning bigger and better than ever. It wasn’t held in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic, but event organizers were excited to welcome everyone back to celebrate the Sierra Madre Wistaria Festival 2022 again. Visitors were in awe of its sheer size and beauty, and many took photos to capture the moment. The festivity delivered a spectacular event with exciting activities too. The planners have set up a shuttle tour of significant historical sites in the area. People were also delighted with over 100 crafters and food vendors, the Sierra Madre Auto Show, and the Packard Auto Show. Live entertainment was provided by the music of Zen and Trio, Ron Longo, the Gem City JazzCats, Kids Rock “Surge,” Lonny Sotelo and Ocho-X, and the harpist Ron Longo.

When and Where to Catch the Guinness Record Holder Blooms

The vine is in bloom from March to mid-April. The festival takes place on varying dates but is typically held over two weekends in March. Visitors can find it at the private residence at 495 W. Sierra Madre Blvd and the corner of Baldwin Ave, spanning three blocks. The site is accessible by car and public transportation. Parking can be challenging for those planning to attend due to the event’s popularity. However, guests can stop at designated lots and take a shuttle to the festival site. We recommend you arrive early to secure a slot and beat the crowds. Wear comfortable walking shoes, bring water and snacks, and remember to bring your camera to capture its majestic beauty.
